People often have difficulty applying the idea of Sacred Leadership to the
business world. After all, many assume that the sole role of business is
profit. In fact, it appears that a great number of businesses, especially
the large corporations, have chosen to define their purposes very narrowly
in the context of financial profit. However, such myopic vision has led to
short term thinking and the narrow pursuit of self interest, neither of which
provide for the future health of the company or its shareholders. Sacred
Leaders in the business arena understand that great companies create wealth
that benefits not only their customers, workers, executives and shareholders
but also the community, humanity, the future and the world at large.
